In 2007 Kingdom Brass proposed and launched the Kingdom Brass Youth Initiative, the band's much needed youth policy.

As part of the creation of that policy, a blueprint was put in place covering 5 years of development for the organisation as a whole, from early 2008 to late 2012.

The main objectives were the continued high standard of the senior band - maintaining the Championship Section status the band has held since 2000, and the formation of a full youth band. Both those objectives have, so far, been met.

Secondary objectives included the formation of dedicated percussion tuition, which was launched at the end of 2009, and the formation of a 'B' Band by the end of 2012. The purpose of that 'B' Band will be to give the most advanced young players in the youth band a chance to perform in a contesting band, complemented by experienced players who don't want the commitment that playing in a Championship Section band brings.

Throughout 2010 and 2011 Kingdom Brass will be progressing the 'B' Band idea, aiming to launch the band in 2012 to prepare for the 2013 Scottish Championships.
